1. Invasive Alien Plant (IAP) removal programme

From the banks of the river at the source in Lorenzville (Viljoen to Lang Streets). The cleared space – which was previously inaccessible – will allow engineers to undertake an assessment of the culvert infrastructure. Thereafter, replanting of indigenous vegetation to establish natural eco-system. Staff for the project were recruited from the immediate area via Harambee. 2. Scientific Data Collection

Water content and flow rate monitoring via a Weather Station sponsored by SRK Consulting and Campbell Scientific. This will provide key data to guide future interventions. The data is available on the cloud and accessible to the community by desktop computer in the Victoria Yards communal office.

3. Sustainable Urban Drainage systems (SUDS)

Development of vegetated storm-water management measures to assist with flood management e.g. Bioswales / eco-tree seats / water harvesting.

Working with the community, City, private sector and academia to fully understand the issues and co-develop appropriate solutions.
